The Mission history goes back to 1866 when Mrs Jones started her work amongst railwaymen. They used to gather in the waiting room at Starbeck railway station, learning about God, as their Saviour and Lord. A move was later made to Park Row (now knows as Spa lane) to a converted stable belonging to the Railway Company. The foundation stone for the new present building was laid in 1909. Today, some 117 years later, the work, under God continues, and prospers.

To someone not used to attending church, perhaps going along for the first time, may fill you with apprehension. It certainly needn't. Ask the 30 or so people who go to the Luncheon Club on a Wednesday, as they chat together over a meal, and then listen and join in with Gerry singing and playing his guitar, and explaining a portion of the Bible. Ask some of the kids aged between 7 and 17 who go to the different clubs on Thursday evening as they play games and take part in quizzes and listen to stories. Ask the 60 or so people who turn up on a Sunday morning. Ask the little children who come along to Sunday School.
